Clarke wins Carifta 200m gold

Trinidad and Tobago’s Kayelle Clarke brought glory to her country yesterday, winning the gold in the Girls U-20 200m event on the final day of competition at the 2014 Carifta Games held in Martinique. Clarke proved too good for her rivals, stopping the clock in a personal best time of 23.10.

In morning action, TT’s Kenejah Williams picked up a silver medal in the U-20 Boys Shot Put with a throw of 16.55m. Jamaican Demar Gayle emerged as the champion when he threw 16.72 metres while Romario Antoine of Barbados (16.42) was third.

Meanwhile, Jeminise Sade Parris earned bronze in the U-18 Girls 100m hurdles in a time of 13.79, while Ruebin Walters, picked up his second bronze for this Carifta Games, this time in the U-20 Boys 110m Hurdles in 13.57. Another Bronze for Team TT, came from Nicholas Landeau in the 800m for Boys U-20, clocking 1:51.56

Asha James and Akida Briggs finished 4th & 5th respectively in the U-18 Girls Javelin Final.
